About 20 years ago Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County built their first home. This was for the Rhodey family. Mrs. Rhodey was anticipating this time coming when the home would be fully paid off and the mortgage could be disposed. Unfortunately and shocking to all was her sudden death in early November of 2014. On April 3, 2015, the family gathered at Poplar Creek Baptist Church to see friends from Habitat who were instrumental in building the home. The mortgage paper was burned. But first, a grown daughter glorified her mother by singing "Serenaded by Angels" to all in the sanctuary. This was a fitting tribute to a mother, now gone but in a holier place...with angels.
